As the demand for high speed transmission grows, fiber optic cable is steadily replacing copper wire as an appropriate means of communication signal transmission, providing the backbone for many network systems.
TelWorx offers a range of single mode and multi mode fiber optic cable to fit your needs. All cables are available in Riser, Plenum or LSZH standard colors: yellow for single mode and orange for multi mode. Other colors maintained in stock.
Single Mode Fiber is a single strand of glass fiber with a diameter of 8.3 to 10 microns that has one mode of transmission. Single mode fiber has a relatively narrow diameter through which only one mode will propagate typically 1310 or 1550nm. Single mode fiber has a higher bandwidth than multimode fiber, but requires a light source with a narrow spectral width.
Multi Mode Fiber has common diameters in the 50-to-100 micron range for the light carry component, with the most common size of 62.5um. Multimode fiber gives you high bandwidth at high speeds (10 to 100MBS — Gigabit to 275m to 2km) over medium distances. Typical multi mode fiber core diameters are 50, 62.5, and 100 micrometers.
